Scotland · Highlands, coast and city access
The best fit among these yoga retreats in Scotland comes down to how you want to spend the hours between classes. On Loch Voil, that might mean quiet time and Buddhist meditation. In the Cairngorms, it could mean an outdoor swim and a sauna. Near Glasgow or Edinburgh, a hosted stay with a group transfer can make a short break easier to plan.
This guide compares 15 named venues by the style of practice, nights included, accommodation and what you will need to arrange yourself. Most venues host visiting teachers on set dates. Check the named programme before you book travel, particularly if you need a private bathroom, step-free access or a pickup that fits your train.

The calendar includes three-, five- and seven-night options. Vegan meals are included, and guests help with washing up. Most rooms are shared and many have their own bathroom, although some use bunks. A ground-floor room and accessible bathroom may be available by arrangement. Tina Logan’s 4–6 December 2026 Winter Wellness Weekend uses Balnearn House for accommodation, with yoga across the road. The programme lists four yoga sessions in different styles, vegetarian meals, a guided walk and a wild sauna. The loch dip is optional. Balnearn House offers private en-suite rooms and the organiser lists separate single and shared rates. Check the room and practice-space access, as well as the terrain on the guided walk, if mobility is a concern. Aberfeldy has bus connections, so plan the last leg before you set out.
Inshriach House
Near Aviemore, Cairngorms · Mid-range · 3 nights
Inshriach House is a good match if you want time on the mat and outdoors in the Cairngorms. SwimWild’s three-night Spring Reset, 8–11 April 2027, pairs gentle flowing yoga, restorative work and breathwork with swims and walks. Participation is flexible. The house offers single, twin and double rooms, with shared bathrooms and a downstairs shower. The organiser lists catered meals and time at the estate’s riverside sauna and hot tub. Aviemore station is about four miles away. Check the event’s transfer details and ask about the route from your room if stairs matter.

The Dell of Abernethy
Nethy Bridge, Cairngorms · Mid-range · 4 nights at the Dell
At the Dell of Abernethy, the practice space is a woodland tipi and guests stay in cottages near Nethy Bridge. Sunniva Sipus’s 3–8 May 2027 trip includes four nights here and a final night in Edinburgh. Most Highland days have morning and pre-dinner practice, with breathwork and Yoga Nidra alongside movement. The advertised Norwegian package includes flights from Oslo and shared rooms. UK travellers should check whether they can join without those flights, which meals are covered, and what language the group will use. Ask about bathroom sharing and the paths between cottage and tipi.
Alltshellach, Glen Coe
North Ballachulish, west Highlands · Mid-range · 7 nights
Alltshellach suits travellers who want yoga as part of a broader activity week. HF Holidays’ 16–23 April 2027 retreat begins with two Pilates days, leaves a day free, then moves into three days of yoga. En-suite accommodation and full board include breakfast, packed lunches and three-course dinners. Optional outings include a Loch Linnhe cruise and a Nevis Range gondola trip, and the house has an indoor pool. Check the exact walking distance and terrain before joining. Some routes cover several miles, while the programme allows time to stay at the house.

Loch Goil, Argyll · Mid-range · 2 nights

Ermana’s 29–31 January 2027 Restore weekend combines gentle yoga and movement with meals, time outdoors and use of the Wild Spa. The package includes two nights, with shared and single occupancy choices. The main rooms listed have en-suite showers, while one twin room in the Wing has its own bathroom outside the bedroom. The advertised rooms are on the first floor, and the Wing has wooden stairs. Confirm the route to the yoga dome and spa if you need level access.
Lodge on Loch Lomond
Luss, Loch Lomond · Luxury · 4 nights
Body Flows uses the Lodge on Loch Lomond in Luss for its 9–13 August 2027 programme. Morning vinyasa and evening Yin sit alongside guided walks, a boat trip and a castle visit. The vegetarian meal schedule includes Friday dinner and Sunday brunch, and guests can use the hot tub. Kintyre’s beaches and walking trails are nearby. Isle of Luing, Argyll · Luxury · 3 nights

Holistic Essences advertises a two-night stay at this small coastal B&B from 27–29 November 2026. Hatha and restorative yoga are spread across the weekend, with guided meditation and time to go outside between sessions. The package includes accommodation and home-cooked vegetarian meals. Rooms are shared, with twin rooms and a triple studio that has its own bathroom. Confirm the bathroom arrangement for your allocated room. If arriving by rail, check an onward taxi from Stonehaven in both directions. The organiser mentions clifftop walks and beach access, so ask about terrain before joining.
Netherbyres House
Berwickshire coast, Scottish Borders · Luxury · 2 nights
At Netherbyres House on Eyemouth’s outskirts, Blue Spaces schedules its 29–31 January 2027 winter weekend around morning flow, gentle Sunday practice and a candlelit Yin and restorative session. The two-night stay includes meals from a private chef, with en-suite bedrooms available for sharing or sole use. Sauna and cold dips are optional. Transport is separate, so arrange your onward journey from the station or drive. Check the house’s room and practice-space access before choosing a bedroom, especially if you need a step-free route.

Ask about the bedroom-to-studio route before booking, especially if you need step-free access. The June organisers advertise collection at Maybole railway station. Karuna Yoga Journeys runs a separate four-night September programme here, with its own meal and transport arrangements. Check the organiser’s booking details for the dates you choose.

Scottish Borders · Luxury · 2 nights

The programme mixes flow with breathwork, meditation and restorative practice, with guided sessions in the morning and afternoon. Two nights and meals from a private chef are included. Ask about the advertised Tweedbank station pickup and check the route between bedroom and studio if stairs are a concern.
How to choose a Scottish yoga retreat
Decide whether yoga is the main activity or one part of an active holiday. A Dhanakosa retreat gives meditation a substantial place in the day. Inshriach and WildLuing pair time on the mat with time outdoors. Alltshellach mixes yoga with Pilates, while Lodge on Loch Lomond and Crossbasket build outings into their programmes. Read the daily schedule for the balance of guided practice, free time and travel.
If the choice is between different yoga classes, read how each teacher uses the style. At Toadhall, Hatha and restorative sessions are spread across the weekend, with time between classes. Netherbyres combines a more active morning flow with a slower Yin and restorative evening. Choose a timetable with enough free time for your own pace, particularly if the weekend also includes workshops, long walks or an evening session.
For a first retreat, look for classes that explicitly welcome beginners and ask how much of the day involves silence, hiking or cold water. If you are travelling solo, compare a shared twin with the total for private occupancy. A private bedroom can still have a shared bathroom. For an older house or a woodland venue, check the route between your bedroom, meals and the practice space, including steps, gradients and the distance outdoors.
What does a yoga retreat in Scotland cost?
The categories describe the packages featured here. Budget covers simpler rooms and donation-supported stays. Mid-range means a catered or partly catered programme, often in a shared house or an en-suite guesthouse. Luxury covers higher-priced packages with private rooms, spa facilities or several organised outings. A price for an en-suite twin can still be quoted per person, with a different total for someone booking alone.
For a published example, Goji’s WildLuing programme lists a standard shared-cabin rate of £800 per person from 1 February 2027 for three nights with meals, six classes and the group Glasgow Airport transfer. Karuna’s September 2027 Ladyburn stay lists £1,597 per person when sharing with a friend for four nights with yoga, four brunches and four dinners. Check the current rate and the room category with each organiser.
Compare the full stay with the nightly figure. Check meals on the arrival and departure days, whether excursions and sauna sessions cost extra, and whether the transfer covers your chosen arrival time. Read the cancellation terms and clarify whether a deposit can be moved to another date. For a donation-based centre, allow for both the booking fee and the contribution.
Getting there by train, road or ferry
Work backwards from the first class. Check where a group pickup starts and whether a late train would leave you needing a taxi. Aviemore is the railhead for Inshriach House, while Stonehaven is useful for Toadhall Rooms if you arrange the remaining journey. For Aberfeldy, check Traveline Scotland for the connection from your rail station. Ask the retreat host where a taxi should drop you and whether you can get one back on a Sunday.
WildLuing is on the Isle of Luing. If you are travelling independently, check the Cuan Ferry timetable from Argyll and Bute Council for your dates. For a retreat in winter, leave time for any changes to the last leg of the journey. If you are coming from abroad, use the UK government’s entry checker for your passport and trip.
What to bring for practice and time outdoors
Ask whether yoga mats, blocks and blankets are provided before packing your own. For a coastal or Highland stay, layers, a waterproof shell and footwear suited to the advertised walks earn their space in the bag. If there is a swim on the itinerary, check the organiser’s kit list and ask whether the session is guided and optional. Keep a dry change of clothes for afterwards.
Questions before booking
How many nights should I book? Two nights can give you a Friday arrival and a full day of practice on Saturday. A longer yoga and meditation retreat gives more time to settle in, while a six- or seven-night package may spread the week across yoga, walks and trips away from the venue.
Can I go without a car? Yes, if the retreat includes a transfer you can use or you arrange a taxi for the last leg. Check both directions before booking. A hotel described as close to Glasgow or Edinburgh can still be a rural stop away from the station or airport.
Can I book the venue on a different date and still join yoga? With a hosted retreat, the teacher and timetable are tied to the named dates. A separate room booking usually buys accommodation only. Ask what happens if the event fills up and whether the venue has its own recurring yoga programme.
