Finding the right yoga retreat in Spain starts with a practical question: how do you want your days to work? A week with a visiting teacher follows a different rhythm from a flexible stay with daily classes. A private retreat on La Palma offers a different kind of company from a shared farmhouse in Catalonia. Even two venues near Málaga can have very different arrival arrangements, teaching styles and levels of privacy.

This guide compares 15 centres across mainland Spain, Mallorca and La Palma. The selection brings together dedicated retreat venues and places offering individual yoga stays, with practical details to help you compare the programme, accommodation and setting. Check the teacher and timetable for your particular dates before booking.

The centres are grouped geographically, without a best-to-worst ranking. Use the comparisons to build a shortlist, then confirm the current programme with the provider. If Tenerife is your starting point, read our separate guide to yoga retreats in Tenerife, which covers the island in more detail.

How to choose a yoga retreat in Spain

Start by separating three booking formats. A fixed-date retreat brings a group together around a named yoga teacher and programme. A flexible yoga holiday lets you choose from available arrival dates and join an ongoing schedule of daily yoga sessions. A hotel stay with optional classes can leave more of the day open, but may need a separate retreat package to include meals or workshops.

For a first yoga retreat, ask what a normal day involves. Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, restorative yoga and Ashtanga describe different approaches, but a class label alone cannot tell you the pace or how much individual help is available. Find out how long sessions last, whether participation is optional and how the teacher supports different experience levels. If relaxation is your priority, a timetable full of workshops and excursions may feel busy even when every activity sounds appealing.

Travelling alone also changes the decision. Shared meals and fixed groups make conversation easier. An individual retreat provides more privacy and asks less of your social energy. Choose the atmosphere you want, then compare rooms, food and transport. Our guide to what to expect from a retreat can help if the different formats are new to you.

Which region suits your yoga holiday?

For a residential yoga holiday in southern Spain, compare the different Andalusian programmes before deciding how close you need to be to the coast. Suryalila offers an ongoing centre-based stay; Kaliyoga changes its emphasis with the season; Santillán and Molino del Rey are particularly dependent on the visiting yoga teacher. The region alone cannot tell you how intensive the practice will be.

Catalonia gives two inland alternatives in this shortlist: Ashiyana beside the Sau reservoir and Alaya in the Penedès countryside. For yoga and mountain walking, compare Casa Cuadrau’s structured Pyrenees programme with the more independent YogaBnB option at Asturias Yoga. Casa KUKUI adds surfing on the Galician coast. Mallorca and La Palma offer a different choice again: Cal Reiet combines hotel facilities with several programme formats, while Vidyamor concentrates on a private stay.

Let the teaching and the final journey decide between similar-looking locations. Ask to see the daily timetable, including rest periods, and distinguish a yoga holiday from a teacher-training course. A short stay with accessible travel can suit a beginner better than a longer programme whose walking, shared rooms or silence requirements do not fit. For upcoming retreats, obtain the dated itinerary directly from the organiser.

Budget, mid-range or luxury?

Choose the room and level of service before comparing quotations. A shared-room retreat can include most of your daily costs, while a private-room booking may leave meals, classes or transfers extra.

BudgetSimple accommodation or shared rooms, with fewer hotel-style services. Check bathroom sharing and which meals are covered.
Mid-rangeComfortable retreat accommodation, often with catered programmes and a choice of shared or private rooms.
LuxuryMore emphasis on private en-suite accommodation, boutique surroundings or spa facilities. Teacher-led programme inclusions still vary.

These are editorial accommodation and service categories, not fixed price bands or hotel star ratings. They do not establish a verified nightly rate. Dates, teacher, room type and inclusions affect the final quotation. A range indicates the difference between simpler shared accommodation and more private rooms; ask each organiser for a complete price.

Yoga retreats in Andalusia: holidays and teacher-led stays

Villamartín, Cádiz

Saturday-start individual packages; hosted retreats

Suryalila Retreat Centre

An established retreat setting with choices each day

Stay
Retreat Yourself: 5, 6 or 7 nights, starting Saturdays.
Practice
Morning yoga plus afternoon Yin or restorative practice.
Meals
Three organic vegetarian meals daily; vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free diets by arrangement.
Rooms
Dorms and shared-bathroom rooms through to private en-suite suites.
Facilities
Yoga shalas, meditation garden, saltwater pool and sauna.
Included extra
One 60-minute massage or holistic treatment; other extras can cost more.

Suryalila is a useful starting point if you want yoga, prepared meals and other guests around you, with room to choose how much you join. Its Retreat Yourself package starts on Saturdays for five, six or seven nights. Morning and afternoon yoga, three organic vegetarian meals each day and one 60-minute massage or holistic treatment are included, alongside accommodation and specified refreshments.

The practical choice is your accommodation category. The centre offers several styles, including rooms and more outdoor-oriented options, so confirm the actual bed and bathroom arrangement. Yoga spaces, a saltwater pool, sauna and meditation garden give the stay more variety than a single classroom schedule. Extra treatments, workshops and excursions can cost more and depend on availability.

Choose Retreat Yourself for the ongoing centre programme, or a hosted retreat if a particular teacher is the main attraction. Different arrival dates require an enquiry about an independent stay. Guests with allergies should discuss the buffet kitchen’s published cross-contamination limitations before booking.

Stay
Six-night residential programmes; hiking emphasis in spring/autumn, more rest in summer.
Practice
Summer timetable: 90-minute morning yoga and evening Yin or a Sunday sound bath.
Meals
Breakfast, lunch and dinner, with tea, coffee and fresh fruit.
Rooms
Main-house rooms/casitas and rustic choices; bathroom arrangements depend on the room.
Facilities
Air-conditioned yoga studio, swimming pool, gardens and infrared sauna.
Getting there
Provider estimates 90 minutes from Málaga airport; door-to-door transfers can be arranged.

Kaliyoga combines yoga with the landscape of the Alpujarras, but the programme changes with the season. Its six-night Mountain Reset runs in spring and autumn and includes daily yoga, guided mountain hikes and local walks, meals, guided meditation and use of facilities such as the pool and infrared sauna. The scheduled longer hikes include transport and a picnic.

The summer Yoga and Wellness programme leaves more space for rest between morning and evening practice, with an air-conditioned studio. That distinction matters if you like the idea of mountain scenery but do not want a walking-led holiday. Check the timetable for the particular week rather than assuming every Kaliyoga retreat includes the same activities.

Accommodation also needs a closer look. Main-house rooms and garden casitas sit alongside more rustic choices, including a cabin with an eco dry toilet. Choose the room before comparing prices. Door-to-door transfers can be arranged, and optional holistic treatments cost extra. This is a good shortlist choice for guests wanting meals and a residential rhythm organised for them.

03

Monda, Málaga

Luxury

Flexible arrivals; minimum three nights

Shanti-Som Wellbeing Retreat

A shorter yoga break with spa facilities

Stay
Flexible arrivals; yoga programme normally requires at least three nights.
Practice
Twice-daily small-group Hatha/Vinyasa yoga plus daily group meditation.
Meals
Daily meals included in the programme; beverages excluded.
Rooms
En-suite rooms with air conditioning; 20 m² standard rooms and larger suites.
Facilities
Spa, sauna, outdoor pool and gym; a three-night yoga stay includes one 60-minute spa treatment.
Getting there
About 45 minutes from Málaga airport, according to the provider.

Shanti-Som’s Marbella property is in Monda, inland from the coast. Its yoga programme offers flexible arrival dates and a three-night minimum, making it worth considering when a fixed residential week is difficult to fit around work. The site describes the journey from Málaga airport as approximately 45 minutes.

The published programme includes twice-daily group yoga, daily group meditation and meals excluding beverages. A three-night stay includes a 60-minute spa treatment. Mats and props are supplied, and the programme welcomes both beginners and experienced practitioners. The combination suits someone who wants organised practice with the comfort and services of a wellbeing hotel.

Ask for a written total covering the room, occupancy and programme. The published rate wording does not make a simple all-in comparison reliable, and the page gives differing descriptions of treatment frequency on longer stays. Confirm those details directly. Also check that any booking information refers to Marbella: Shanti-Som’s separate Algarve property is in Portugal.

Centro Santillán

Choosing a visiting teacher’s residential retreat

Stay
Fixed-date teacher-led retreats; duration and intensity vary by organiser.
Yoga spaces
Two indoor studios and one outdoor studio; the Carlo Classic studio has a 24-station yoga wall.
Meals
Mediterranean vegetarian/vegan catering; three meals or brunch-and-dinner arrangements depend on the retreat.
Rooms
20 en-suite bedrooms, each with a balcony or terrace; single/shared configurations.
Facilities
Saltwater pool, paddle-tennis court, gardens and therapy spaces.
Getting there
Provider estimates 35 minutes from Málaga airport; taxi transfers can be arranged.

Centro Santillán is a residential retreat venue east of Málaga. Here, the visiting teacher and booked programme should lead the decision. The property supplies the setting and practical facilities, while the organiser determines the yoga style, session intensity and structure of the week.

The official FAQ describes en-suite bedrooms with a balcony or patio and sea, garden or mountain views. Rooms have bath and shower facilities, toiletries and temperature-control equipment. The equipped yoga studio supplies mats, although guests may bring their own. Catering is arranged around the retreat: some groups have three meals, while others have early refreshments followed by brunch and dinner.

This flexibility can work well when you have found a teacher whose approach suits you. It also makes a general venue description less useful than the dated programme. Confirm the food arrangement, dietary requirements, room allocation and transfers with the organiser. Check the current calendar directly rather than assuming that a property enquiry alone reserves a place on a yoga retreat.

Jorox, Alozaina, Málaga

Luxury

Molino del Rey

A small teacher-led retreat with unusual practice spaces

Rooms
En-suite bedrooms with heating/cooling; most have balconies.
Property size
18 guest beds in total; the booked retreat group may be smaller.
Practice facilities
110 m² yoga hall and separate meditation caves.
Other facilities
Saltwater pool, sauna, terraces and meditation gardens.
Meals
Usually vegetarian; the course organiser confirms meals and inclusions.
Access
No on-site parking; about 150 metres down a steep path from the village. Luggage help can be arranged.

Molino del Rey combines an equipped yoga hall with meditation caves, terraces and a saltwater pool. Its small-scale setting in Jorox suits a teacher-led group whose time revolves around practice and shared meals. Bedrooms are en-suite, and the centre publishes a total of 18 guest beds; that is the property’s bed capacity, rather than a promise about the size of every retreat.

Students book the particular course through its teacher. Meals are usually vegetarian, depending on the event, so confirm the menu, programme and total inclusions with that organiser. A room enquiry should not be treated as a reservation on a taught retreat.

The most consequential practical detail is the approach. There is no parking directly at the centre. Guests park before the village bridge and walk about 150 metres down a steep route, with help available for luggage. Discuss that route before committing if gradients or walking distances affect your stay. The centre also recommends arranging its local taxi service.

Molino del Zegri

Yoga alongside creative and movement workshops

Example duration
8–10 January 2027: a two-night yoga and Ecstatic Dance weekend.
Practice
Morning yoga plus dance, movement and group workshops on the example weekend.
Room choices
Triple-share, twin-share or a private double room.
Meals
The January event includes vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Included equipment
Basic practice materials and all scheduled workshops are included in that event.
Arrival / departure
Example event: arrival Friday 17:00; departure Sunday 16:00.
Published price examplePublished 8–10 January 2027 weekend: €280 per person in a triple-share room, €300 per person twin-share, or €340 for one person in a private double room; two nights, vegetarian full board and scheduled activities included. This is a specific yoga-and-dance event, not the centre’s general rate. Check provider’s price and conditions.

Molino del Zegri is a restored mill in rural Nívar near Granada. Stone interiors, retained milling features, fruit trees and vegetable plots give it a different character from a purpose-built wellness hotel. Its residential events combine yoga and meditation with other activities, which can include creative workshops and movement.

The programme deserves close reading. An advertised dance retreat with morning yoga is a different choice from a week devoted to yoga practice. The centre’s general information describes teaching in Spanish and English, but confirm the working language for your event. Private and shared room options also vary with the programme.

This venue is worth investigating if you want a small residential gathering with several forms of expression in the timetable. Use the current event description for dates, meals and price. Some older yoga information remains online, so a past package rate should not guide a new booking. Exploring Granada would be a separate plan unless your chosen organiser explicitly includes it.

Mill.Space

Small hosted groups with yoga and creative interests

Accommodation
Five room options, including self-contained studios, en-suite rooms and shared-bathroom accommodation.
Practice spaces
Outdoor practice circle and a shaded garden shala; personal practice equipment is supplied for the stay.
Group scale
The venue describes capacity for up to 11 students sharing; individual groups may be smaller.
Meals
Retreat catering is vegetarian, with vegan and allergy requirements arranged in advance.
Facilities
Swimming pool, free parking and Wi-Fi; breakfast can be requested for independent stays.
Travel
About 50 minutes’ drive from Almería airport and 10 minutes from Carboneras.

Mill.Space is a residential venue centred on an old mill near Carboneras. Small yoga and creative groups use an outdoor practice circle on the former threshing area and a covered garden shala built with bamboo and recycled timber. The practice spaces give outdoor time a clear place in the retreat.

Accommodation ranges from self-contained studios to rooms with shared bathrooms. That variation can be useful within a small group, but it makes the actual room more important than a general description of the venue. Retreat menus are vegetarian with Mediterranean and Moroccan influences; vegan diets and allergies need arranging in advance.

Book a named teacher’s retreat if you want an organised programme. Independent accommodation is also offered and should not be assumed to include daily yoga. The site indicated that its 2027 retreat listings were still to come when checked, so request the next dates and full price directly. The practice circle is reached along a winding stone path, which also deserves an access check.

La Crisalida Retreats

Flexible dates and a varied wellbeing timetable

Stay
Arrive any day; minimum three nights.
Practice
One 90-minute yoga class daily, plus a second 60–90-minute class on five days each week.
Meals
Plant-based vegan meals, herbal teas, water and fruit; juicing is optional.
Rooms
Twin-share, own bedroom in a shared apartment, private apartment or multishare; bathroom privacy varies.
Facilities
Two outdoor pools; the magnesium pool is heated in cooler months. Infrared sauna and Wi-Fi.
Transfers
Alicante airport/train-station transfers have minimum-stay and arrival-time conditions; confirm before booking flights.
Published price examplePublished low-season 2026 example: €558 per person for three nights in a twin-share apartment, including accommodation, meals and retreat activities. This example applies to 1 November–23 December 2026. Qualifying transfers have arrival-time conditions; flights and treatments are extra. Confirm the dated quotation. Check provider’s price and conditions.

La Crisalida’s Spanish centre offers an ongoing programme rather than asking everyone to arrive for the same week. You can arrive and depart on any day, with a minimum three-night stay. This makes it a practical option for a short break or for travellers whose flights do not match conventional retreat changeover days.

Yoga sits within a wider schedule of activities, which can include meditation, walks, workshops and cookery demonstrations. There is a daily 90-minute yoga class, with a second class on five days each week. Practice uses the roof terrace when conditions allow and an indoor studio when needed. Apartment accommodation and plant-based meals are part of the package; juicing is optional.

Yoga Holidays and scheduled retreats

Ashiyana Spain

Daily yoga with open time in an inland setting

Stay
Yoga Holidays and more structured retreats run on selected dates; duration depends on the programme.
Practice
Morning movement and breathwork; evening sessions can include restorative yoga, Yin, Yoga Nidra or sound baths.
Meals
Meals included; confirm whether your chosen package provides two or three meals daily.
Rooms
En-suite rooms in the former Hotel La Riba and nearby villas; property accommodation for up to 25 guests.
Facilities
Natural pool, communal grounds and access to the surrounding reservoir landscape.
Getting there
Provider estimates 90 minutes from Barcelona and 25 minutes from Vic; airport transfers excluded from Yoga Holiday inclusions.

Ashiyana Spain occupies the restored Hotel La Riba beside the Sau reservoir, in wooded inland Catalonia. The setting is a useful alternative to a beach retreat: the attraction is the combination of water, hills and daily practice. The centre places itself around 90 minutes from Barcelona and 25 minutes from Vic.

The Yoga Holiday format deliberately leaves free time during the day. Its published inclusions cover accommodation, yoga classes and meals. Confirm the meal plan for your chosen dates; the broader calendar includes more structured retreats and training. En-suite accommodation is spread between the former hotel and nearby villas. That gives a different starting point from a shared dormitory retreat, although the specific room and occupancy still need confirming.

Choose this option if you want yoga to anchor the day without filling every hour. Hiking, cycling, kayaking and climbing are possibilities in the area, rather than automatic package inclusions. Private sessions also need checking separately. Read the description of your chosen programme carefully because the same property hosts several formats and teachers.

Torrelles de Foix, Barcelona province

Budget

Alaya Retreat Centre

A sociable farmhouse stay with flexible dates

Stay
Yoga Holiday offers six- or seven-night options with any-day arrival, year-round.
Practice
Morning yoga and sunset rooftop yoga; indoor shala in cold or wet weather.
Meals
Vegetarian/vegan brunch, yogi snack and communal dinner; water and herbal teas.
Rooms
The advertised Yoga Holiday uses shared bunk-bed accommodation; ask separately about other room categories.
Included
Yoga equipment, towels, linen, Wi-Fi, and use of communal facilities and eco-pool.
Setting
Masia Cal Pau Cruset in the Penedès countryside near Torrelles de Foix.

Alaya is based at Masia Cal Pau Cruset in the Penedès countryside, among vineyards and gardens. Its flexible arrival model is useful for travellers who want to build a yoga stay around their own dates. The centre says guests can arrive any day and join the ongoing programme.

The advertised Yoga Holiday includes morning practice and sunset rooftop yoga, with an indoor shala available in cold or wet weather. Vegetarian brunch, a snack and dinner are included, alongside creative or mindfulness activities, use of facilities and supplied yoga equipment. Towels and linen are provided.

The room arrangement is the key detail: the specific Yoga Holiday advertised uses bunk beds. That may suit a sociable solo traveller, but someone expecting a private hotel bedroom should enquire about other accommodation before booking. The centre also offers additional sessions and horse-related activities; establish which belong to your package. Compare the exact stay, meals and room rather than applying one holiday price to every Alaya programme.

The Pyrenees: yoga, walking and a quieter rhythm

11

Vió, Huesca

Budget–Mid-range

Fixed group dates and shared retreat rhythm

Casa Cuadrau

Mountain walking, yoga and time in silence

Stay
Fixed group retreat dates; arrive for the opening orientation and remain for the programme.
Practice
Hatha/Vinyasa-based yoga, meditation and walks; provider states a maximum retreat group of 22–24.
Meals
Vegetarian full board; vegan and medically necessary diets by advance request.
Rooms
Two six-bed dorms with shared bathrooms, plus private rooms with shared or private bathrooms.
Retreat rhythm
Partial silence overnight until before lunch; no guest internet.
Getting there
Vió is about 40 minutes from Aínsa. Shared transport/taxis may be coordinated; transport costs extra.

Casa Cuadrau is a yoga, art and nature retreat house in Vió, in the Aragonese Pyrenees. Its fixed group programmes bring yoga and meditation together with meditative walks, workshops and, on some days, longer excursions. It asks guests to arrive for the opening orientation and stay until the retreat ends.

The quieter rhythm is specific rather than absolute: silence runs from the final evening session until before lunch the following day. Activities are optional, and walking routes are adapted after the team assesses the group. Vegetarian meals are provided, with particular dietary requirements discussed in advance.

This is a strong option to investigate if you want mountain time and a clear break from ordinary routines. It is less suitable for a working holiday: there is no guest internet, and visitors are asked to switch off devices. Plan the final rural journey carefully. The house is around 40 minutes from Aínsa, and arrival transport costs are separate from the full-board retreat.

Seasonal retreats and a lighter YogaBnB option

Asturias Yoga

Ashtanga practice and simple mountain accommodation

Yoga
Morning guided or Mysore-style classes; teaching at the school includes Ashtanga Vinyasa.
Stay length
YogaBnB pricing starts at two nights; additional nights are available.
Rooms
Shared rooms, private rooms, bell tents and a separate private-cabin option.
Meals
Vegetarian breakfast included; lunch and dinner are self-catered using the kitchen.
Season / minimum
Normal on-site season is mid-March–late October. YogaBnB needs at least two participants.
Access
The approach includes steep and gravel road sections.
Published price exampleUndated provider-listed group YogaBnB rate, checked 3 November 2026: €155 per person for two nights sharing with one other person, including accommodation, morning classes, listed workshops/excursions, breakfast and facilities. Lunch and dinner are self-catered. Reconfirm dates and the two-person minimum. Check provider’s price and conditions.

Asturias Yoga occupies a restored off-grid mountain hamlet on the lower slopes of the Picos de Europa. Teaching includes Ashtanga Vinyasa and the founders’ Saoirse Yoga approach, with some programmes adding hiking or climbing. Stone cabins and bell tents make it a choice for guests who value the mountain setting over uniform hotel facilities.

The lighter YogaBnB format combines morning guided or Mysore-style practice with breakfast and leaves more independent time. You prepare lunch and dinner yourself, so factor in groceries and cooking time as well as the programme price.

Two practical limits deserve attention. The normal on-site season runs from mid-March to late October, and YogaBnB requires at least two participants. The provider says it will notify guests if that minimum is not reached. Check those arrangements before buying non-refundable travel, along with the steep and gravel sections of the access road.

Casa KUKUI

A social Atlantic-coast stay combining surf and yoga

Location
Casa KUKUI, Cedeira, Galicia: an ecofarm setting for residential experiences.
Programme
Surf and yoga lessons adapted to all experience levels, including beginners.
Accommodation
Retreat accommodation is reserved for participants; current room and bathroom configurations need confirming.
Meals
Home-cooked food is part of the advertised retreat format.
Other activities
Published examples include group meditation and evening workshops such as mindful eating or natural cosmetics.
Booking status
The visible named event was in May 2026; next residential dates and duration are by enquiry.

Casa KUKUI is an ecofarm in Galicia offering residential experiences that combine surfing and yoga. It is worth investigating if you want the sea and shared activities to shape the holiday, rather than looking for a completely silent or yoga-only programme.

The published retreat format brings together accommodation for participants, home-cooked food and practice adapted to different experience levels. Evening activities can include group meditation or workshops. Those are examples from its advertised format, rather than a guarantee that every future stay will have the same timetable.

Ask for the next confirmed dates: the visible Flowing Home programme was for May 2026, which had already passed when this guide was researched. Obtain current room and bathroom details, transfer arrangements, the surf teaching plan and a full price. Beginners are welcomed, but the organiser should explain how sea conditions affect lessons and what alternatives are offered. Choose Casa KUKUI for the combination of coast, company and movement once the dated programme matches your needs.

Mallorca and La Palma: two different island stays

14

Santanyí, Mallorca

Luxury

Hotel stays, personalised programmes and teacher-led dates

Cal Reiet Holistic Retreat

A comfortable independent stay or a structured group retreat

Property size
15 rooms and suites; this is a room count, not retreat group capacity.
Room sizes
Standard rooms: 28–30 m²; Superior: about 33 m²; Deluxe: 27–32 m².
Larger accommodation
Two-bedroom casitas are about 95 m², with en-suite bathrooms, living room, kitchen and private terrace.
Yoga
Morning classes for different levels, plus separately organised teacher-led retreats.
Food
Plant-based dining; meal and treatment inclusions depend on the booking.
Access detail
The Luxury Attic Room is split over two floors, with bathroom downstairs and bedroom upstairs.

Cal Reiet is a holistic boutique hotel in Santanyí with morning yoga, plant-based dining and a calendar of visiting teachers. Its range of booking formats makes it useful for travellers who want comfortable accommodation and daily practice, as well as those seeking a particular group retreat.

The distinction matters when requesting a quote. An independently booked room, a personalised wellbeing stay and a teacher-led event can have different meal and workshop inclusions. The retreat calendar lists programmes in several languages, including English, so check the teaching language as carefully as the dates.

Rooms and suites differ substantially, with separate casitas offering more living space. Discuss the layout if steps or split-level rooms could affect your stay. Morning classes welcome different experience levels, but a longer retreat’s intensity depends on its teacher. Choose Cal Reiet when the hotel facilities and proximity to Santanyí appeal, then decide how much of the holiday you want organised through a retreat programme. Confirm full-board and treatment inclusions separately.

15

Tijarafe, La Palma

Mid-range

Private eco-retreat format; request a dated quotation.

Tailored dates and a personal quotation

Vidyamor

Private practice and a quieter individual stay

Format
Personalised private stays without unrelated guest groups; dates are tailored.
Yoga
Outdoor private lessons adapted to beginners and experienced practitioners.
Accommodation
Private sea-view space with an adjoining bathroom, hot water and heating/cooling.
Meals
Vegan breakfast/brunch is offered; full board should not be assumed.
Access
Approximately seven minutes up an ascending footpath from parking; a backpack is recommended.
House rules
No alcohol, tobacco, meat or fish on the grounds.

Vidyamor offers a private alternative to the larger retreat centres. Its La Palma programmes are tailored to the participant, with outdoor yoga suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners. The provider describes stays without unrelated guest groups, making this worth considering when privacy matters more than a social timetable.

The accommodation has its own bathroom and sea views. Vegan breakfast or brunch is offered, but that does not establish a conventional full-board package. Ask the hosts to explain the meals, accommodation arrangements and paid services in a written quotation. The public dates-and-prices information did not supply a comparable package figure when checked.

Access needs planning: the provider describes an ascending footpath of roughly seven minutes from the parking area and recommends a backpack rather than a suitcase. There are also house rules covering alcohol, tobacco and food brought onto the grounds. Read those before booking. Choose the yoga or wellness format for personal attention, without treating the provider’s detox language as evidence of medical benefit.

Before you book

When is the best time for a yoga retreat in Spain?

Spain has several climates, so choose the season for the actual region and activities. Spain’s official tourism weather guide describes spring and autumn as milder periods and northern regions such as Galicia and Asturias as cooler and rainier than much of the country. Inland southern Spain can be hot in summer. A yoga-and-walking retreat therefore needs a different weather check from a stay centred on a pool and indoor practice.

The Canary Islands have milder winters than much of mainland Spain, but a hillside retreat still needs its own packing plan. In the Pyrenees, ask about the walking routes, expected conditions and alternatives in poor weather. For Mallorca and the coast, check whether the pool, restaurant and full class schedule operate on your dates. Sunshine at the destination does not establish that a particular retreat is running.

What does a yoga retreat in Spain cost?

Compare the total stay in euros, with the room and occupancy stated. A shared-room price and a private-room price are different purchases. Count nights as well as advertised days, then add meals, transfers, treatments and any optional activities. The published Asturias Yoga example above is useful because it specifies the stay and several inclusions. Many other venues require a dated quote or sell programmes through individual teachers.

Request a written breakdown covering the first and final meals, airport or station transport, equipment and cancellation terms. If a treatment is included, establish its duration and whether you must reserve it. If a venue advertises a programme rate alongside room rates, ask for the complete accommodation-and-programme total. A low daily figure is not a meaningful comparison until those details match.

Plan the final part of the journey

Choose the venue before committing to flights. Rural centres may need a booked transfer, a hire car or a shared taxi arranged around a fixed meeting time. Ask the provider which airport or station it actually recommends, what happens if a connection is delayed and whether the retreat ends early enough for your return journey.

Room access matters as much as the distance from the airport. Molino del Rey publishes a steep final walk, while Vidyamor also has a footpath from the parking area. If steps, gradients, walking distances or luggage handling affect your stay, ask for photographs and precise route details. Confirm that you can reach the bedroom, bathroom, dining area and yoga space comfortably.

Match the food and the practice to your needs

Vegetarian, vegan and plant-based catering describe menus, rather than an assurance that every allergy can be accommodated. Suryalila, for example, asks guests with particular requirements to contact its buffet kitchen in advance and flags cross-contamination limits. Ask about the actual meals and kitchen arrangements before paying a deposit.

Share relevant physical needs with the teacher and ask about adaptations, class size and available props. Check whether walks or surfing are optional and whether the programme requires prior experience. Treat promises about detoxification or healing as provider claims rather than established outcomes. Choose a retreat for its teaching, setting and practical arrangements.

Pack for the whole timetable

Ask whether mats, blocks, straps, towels and drinking water are supplied. Add suitable shoes for any walking, layers for early sessions and the clothing needed for the season. Our yoga retreat packing list is a useful starting checklist; adapt its UK weekend advice to your Spanish destination and length of stay.

Optional yoga essentials to pack

Confirm which mats, blocks and straps your retreat provides before buying or packing extra kit. These are optional examples; use equipment you already own where it suits the programme.
