Description of the Retreat

Here at AdventureYogi we believe that yoga with skiing or snowboarding is the perfect match. After running our SnowYogi yoga and ski holidays since 2007 (our first ever adventure!), we know that the key to an amazing yoga ski holiday is an equal emphasis on the yoga and the skiing/boarding along with plenty of relaxation too. With this unique combination you are guaranteed to feel invigorated on the slopes helping you ski all day without feeling tired.

St Foy is a fantastic quaint French ski resort and is ideal for all levels. It’s great for beginners because you can walk to your lessons, and then if you feel like you need a break you can come and relax at the apartments. For intermediate/advanced it is a fun resort and for those who favour off piste it is a hidden gem, a playground of trees and wide open bowls.

Two days will be spent at St Foy, the other four days will be spent in the ski areas of Val d’Isère & Tignes and Les Arcs, so you can experience 3 different ski resorts. Spending 2 days at each helps you to get to know the areas. There is also the option of staying and skiing at St Foy for the whole week if you prefer. Our hosts will brief you in the morning with a piste map of each ski area so that you can explore the slopes with confidence.

Our accommodation is in 3 ski-in ski-out apartments in the picturesque resort of St Foy. We have been lucky enough to find these 3 spacious, cosy, luxury apartments that are wood and stone built in traditional Savoyard style. They have spectacular views across the Tarantaise valley to the Aiguille Rouge and Mont Pourri mountains, and are right at the foot of the pistes. As they are private homes, they have a very high quality of furnishings and equipment throughout with plenty of storage space.

These apartments are ideal if you are a complete beginner and/or you are having ski/board lessons, as you can come and go as you please and if you don’t fancy skiing you can relax in the village and enjoy the sun terraces! Also great for all levels too!

The AdventureYogi chefs create wholesome, hearty and filling vegetarian feasts for you in the mountains to fill you up after burning so many calories with the yoga and skiing all day! Although vegetarian, you won’t go hungry. We can cater for all dietary needs such as gluten, vegan, wheat free etc. Just let us know on booking and we’ll do the rest. Breakfast is a choice of granola, fabulous local breads and croissants, eggs, juices and fruit. Dinner is served over 6 nights, with a choice of local wines. Chef’s have a night off and you can go out and enjoy the local cuisine.

Non-skiers will find plenty to enjoy too. There are well-marked trails for snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing or simply hiking which offer breath-taking views of the surrounding mountains. One of the best trails takes you to the picturesque tranquil farming hamlet of Le Monal where you can picnic gazing at the glaciers of Mont Pourri across the valley. You could also choose to try your hand at dog-sledding with your own sled pulled by a team of huskies.

The less active can wile away the day soaking up the sun with a glass of wine or a beer on one of the mountain restaurant terraces, or be pampered at one of the two spas at Sainte Foy.

Morning Yoga

Prepare for your day of snowboarding or skiing with a dynamic yoga class to awaken the mind and bring heat to cold muscles. These sessions pay special attention to warming the body, stretching out the legs and building stamina for your turns and powder runs. The yoga class will be 1 hour, so we can get up to the slopes early too!

Evening Yoga

After your full day skiing or snowboarding, return to your mountain yoga retreat to unwind and relax tired bodies with a restorative evening yoga class. This gentler, slightly longer session will vary each evening and include pranayama and meditation to help mind and body really let go and allow you to enter a state of deep relaxation after a hard day in the mountains. Afterwards, pamper yourself with a massage, have a well deserved sauna or simply enjoy a good glass of wine in front of the fire while we make you a hearty dinner.

Testimonials

Testimonials:

''St Foy is a picture book resort with lovely empty slopes and the chalet style apartment was perfectly placed. I was nervous about combining yoga and skiing but it turned out to be the ideal blend. Wonderful bunch of people. Would do it again in a heartbeat'' John 2016
