La Balie

Originally a hill-top farm, La Balie is a beautiful collection of 17th century farm buildings complete with thick stone walls, wooden beams and stunning views over the surrounding rolling French countryside. The three cottages and purpose built studio provide an ideal location for running a retreat at anytime of the year. The studio opens up onto a fantastic terrace and pool in the grounds with lovely views from our elevated position. There are also excellent walks and local sites of culture and history to add something to your itinerary. We have an experienced house keeper who is experienced at helping with the running of your retreat and support of your chef. If you don’t have your own chef we can recommend someone who is experienced at catering for retreats at La Balie. We will help you plan your event, be on hand if you wish to visit before the date to prepare and ensure everything runs smoothly on the day. Finally we are fully equipped with yoga equipment, so you wont have to worry about lugging your own.

I had the huge pleasure of running a yoga retreat at La Balie in early October: what a glorious place! The whole venue is perfect with a huge and light yoga studio leading onto the beautiful pool area and manicured gardens, and 3 luxurious gites provided very comfortable accommodation. We ate outside under fairy lights, overlooking the countryside, and when not practicing yoga and meditation there are wonderful villages and chateaux to visit nearby. We enjoyed amazing vegan food provided by Danne, and Paul & Cecile were generous and very friendly hosts who helped us with everything. I can’t recommend La Balie too highly, it is a perfect place for yoga or wellness retreats and I certainly hope to return!

Overall Experience

What a wonderful week my husband and I had at La Balie. We stayed in La Lavandière cottage which was just beautiful. Bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and spacious.
Everything has been finished to such a high standard both inside the cottages and throughout the grounds.
The estate sits in the most peaceful and tranquil area with delightful views from every angle. The pool is fabulous surrounded by flowerbeds and fields.
There are numerous beautiful medieval towns and villages to visit and wonderful markets with fresh produce . The country roads lend themselves to peaceful cycling through glorious countryside and undulating hills.
Paul was a brilliant host answering any questions at all times of the day.
I don’t think it gets any better !

Simply Bliss!
I thoroughly enjoyed my week staying at La Balie in the La Lavandière cottage. Paul is a very welcoming and generous host, inviting us to join yoga classes of a morning and informing us of the best places to visit in the near by areas. The living quarters were clean and tidy as you would expect, the surrounding grounds are stunning and the French cuisine is divine. The rural towns are very special and historic, so there was plenty to explore and for the days where we needed some R&R the guest pool was the perfect spot to retire to with a good book. I really appreciate the little things, the towels were soft, the beds were comfortable and we even received a welcome gift. I’ll definitely be returning!
