The retreat guide 2026–2027 edition
Yoga retreats in Portugal.
Find your own rhythm.
Ten options for 2026 and 2027, from the Algarve coast to a forest valley in central Portugal and teacher-led retreats in the north.

About this guide: We reviewed current provider information for this October 2026 update. This is an editorial comparison, rather than a ranking based on first-hand visits. Review My Retreat offers paid marketing services to retreat providers. Check current details and book directly with the organiser.
A yoga retreat in Portugal can mean a quiet week of practice, a social surf holiday or a programme led by a particular visiting teacher. The coast is only part of the picture: central and northern Portugal offer very different settings and travel arrangements.
Choose your kind of day
Choose the daily programme before the destination photograph. Dedicated yoga weeks, surf-and-yoga packages, hosted retreat venues and juice-fasting programmes have different timetables and inclusions. Start with the kind of practice, meals and pace you want.
We have kept the nine providers from the earlier guide and added Chicks on Waves to make ten options. Current provider pages clarify the locations, formats and booking routes. Numbering is for navigation, rather than a ranking or a guarantee of results.

A closer look
From coastal weeks to forest stays.

MEKAYOGA
Vila do Bispo, near Sagres, AlgarveMEKAYOGA runs week-long yoga retreats in the Vila do Bispo and Sagres area of the western Algarve. Its current store lists 2027 departures and room options, with an advertised starting price of €699 for selected weeks, checked in October 2026. It is a useful starting point if daily practice is the main reason for the trip.
Before booking: Confirm the exact venue, room type, teaching style, food and transfers for your chosen dates. A starting price is not a quote for every room.

Vale de Moses
Amieira, Oleiros, central PortugalVale de Moses is a forest retreat near Oleiros in central Portugal, with stone cottages and bell-tent accommodation described by the provider. The programme is shaped by visiting teachers, and the site advertises a 2027 calendar. Vegetarian and vegan meals and time in the surrounding landscape form part of the offering.
Before booking: Choose the specific teacher and retreat. Check arrival arrangements from Oleiros, room sharing and whether any treatments cost extra.

Wild View Retreat
Inland AlgarveWild View’s current calendar distinguishes healthy-food retreats from juice-fasting programmes. Both can include yoga, fitness and guided walks, but the food arrangements make them substantially different experiences. For a conventional yoga holiday with meals, look specifically at the healthy-food departures.
Before booking: Read the dietary programme in full. Do not assume that every week includes ordinary meals or that detox claims establish a health benefit.

Wolfs Yoga
Vila do Bispo, AlgarveWolfs Yoga offers small-group stays near Vila do Bispo, combining yoga, meditation and plant-based meals. The current programme includes different themes, with some departures placing more emphasis on meditation and reflection. Its public room information includes both shared and private options, with different bathroom arrangements.
Before booking: Compare the particular programme and room carefully. Some departures include periods of silence; promises of healing are not evidence of medical benefit.

Cocoon Portugal
Alentejo coastCocoon is a mainland retreat venue on the Alentejo coast, with a programme led by different teachers and organisers. Its 2027 calendar includes yoga, Pilates, meditation and other themes, including some retreats taught in languages other than English. The host and timetable are the key to choosing well.
Before booking: Check teaching language, experience level, meals, room sharing and the booking terms of the named organiser. A training immersion is different from a yoga holiday.

D’Alijo Yoga Retreat Center
Cabeceiras de Basto, northern PortugalD’Alijo hosts visiting yoga teachers and studios in northern Portugal. Its programme includes different approaches, such as Yin, hot yoga, movement and meditation, alongside teacher-training courses. The venue asks guests to book with the relevant organiser for their chosen event.
Before booking: Confirm the actual style and temperature of classes, course level, room arrangements and transfers. Not every retreat includes the same programme or excursions.

The Salty Pelican
Cascais, Ericeira & PenicheThe Salty Pelican offers coastal stays at more than one Portuguese location, with packages that combine yoga, surf and other activities. The current Cascais information includes shorter breaks as well as week-long options, making the location and package central to the comparison.
Before booking: Select the correct property and check shared versus private accommodation, the yoga timetable, surf lessons, meals and any extra-cost activities.

Moinhos Velhos
Near Lagos, AlgarveMoinhos Velhos advertises juice-fasting programmes that include yoga, meditation and workshops, with seven- and ten-night formats in its current calendar. This is a specialist dietary programme rather than a standard yoga holiday with regular meals. Accommodation choices and facilities vary by room category and season.
Before booking: Read the full food regime and suitability information. Detoxification and promised health outcomes should not be treated as established benefits; discuss fasting with an appropriate healthcare professional.

Soul & Surf Portugal
Almádena, near Burgau, AlgarveSoul & Surf combines surf coaching with yoga on its Algarve retreats. Its current Portugal booking page describes three-, four- and seven-night packages during its advertised retreat season, with surf-school bookings handled separately. Choose it if time in the water matters alongside the yoga practice.
Before booking: Check surf ability requirements, the yoga schedule, meals and transport. Read the organiser’s current package and cancellation terms before paying.

Chicks on Waves
AlgarveChicks on Waves combines surf coaching with yoga in the Algarve. Its published package includes five yoga classes over a six-night stay, with both shared and private room options. The 2027 calendar labels women-only departures, so readers can choose the guest format that suits them.
Before booking: Confirm the selected week, room, coaching level, meal inclusions and transfers. A surf-and-yoga week involves a different activity balance from a yoga-intensive retreat.
Choose the setting and the journey.
The Algarve includes yoga-led weeks near Vila do Bispo, inland programmes and surf-focused breaks. Cascais, Ericeira and Peniche offer different coastal bases near or north of Lisbon. Check the actual property when a provider has several locations.
The Alentejo coast offers hosted retreats at Cocoon. Central Portugal is home to Vale de Moses near Oleiros, while northern Portugal includes D’Alijo near Cabeceiras de Basto. Airport and onward-transfer choices depend on the venue; do not assume every Portuguese retreat is close to Faro or Lisbon.
Check what you will eat.
Many retreats serve ordinary meals, while others advertise juice-fasting or detox programmes. Those are different dietary arrangements, not interchangeable descriptions of the same yoga holiday.
The British Dietetic Association explains that detox-diet claims are not supported by robust evidence and that severe restriction can cause problems. If a programme involves fasting, discuss suitability with an appropriate healthcare professional before booking. This guide does not endorse detoxification, weight-loss or treatment claims.
Compare inclusions, not labels.
Broad labels such as budget, mid-range or luxury are less useful than a complete quote for the room and date you want. As one checked example, MEKAYOGA advertises selected 2027 weeks from €699, reviewed in October 2026. Other rooms, dates and providers can cost substantially more.
Check accommodation, meals, yoga teaching, surf equipment, transfers, treatments and excursions separately. Read deposits, cancellation terms and any package-travel information before paying. A room-only stay is not the same purchase as a hosted yoga retreat.
Before you book.
- Confirm the exact property, dates and teaching language.
- Ask how much yoga is scheduled and whether the level suits you.
- Check room sharing, bathrooms, meals and dietary arrangements.
- For surf or hiking, confirm coaching, ability requirements and weather alternatives.
- Plan the onward journey from the airport and ask about transfer costs.
- Read the organiser’s deposit, cancellation and insurance terms.
Outdoor practice and ocean activities depend on conditions. A suitable indoor practice space and a flexible itinerary matter in every season.
Useful questions
Before you choose.
Are all ten retreats suitable for beginners?
Not automatically. Check the specific yoga level, teacher and timetable. Some hosted programmes are training immersions, while surf holidays have separate water-sport requirements.
Is Vale de Moses in Serra da Estrela?
The provider gives its address as Amieira, Oleiros, in the Castelo Branco district of central Portugal. Use the actual venue address and its arrival instructions when planning your journey.
Do all retreat packages include meals?
No. Meal inclusions vary, and a juice-fasting programme is different from a retreat serving ordinary meals. Ask for the food arrangements in writing before choosing.
Can I book a private room?
Some providers offer private rooms, while others have shared accommodation or a supplement for single occupancy. Confirm the room and bathroom arrangement for your exact departure.
Should I choose yoga-only or surf-and-yoga?
Choose by the balance of activities you want. A surf camp may schedule yoga around time in the water; a yoga-led week may offer more teaching and quieter free time. Read a sample day rather than relying on the headline.

Make time for what matters
Give the timetable as much attention as the view.
Choose the teaching, food and pace that suit you, then confirm the room and travel details directly with the organiser. That leaves more room to enjoy the time away.
