Greece · Island or mainland?
The best starting point for a yoga retreat in Greece is the journey and the teaching, then the view. A mountain shala reached by road, a small Cretan house and a hotel on ferry-dependent Amorgos offer very different weeks.

This guide compares 15 distinct retreat venues, including dedicated yoga centres, hotels hosting visiting teachers and properties where a yoga programme must be arranged separately. They are grouped by geography rather than presented as an objective ranking. Room arrangements, practice intensity, food and the final transfer matter more than a long list of activities.
Some providers have confirmed future departures; others are still preparing their next season. A venue profile is not a claim that every week is available. Confirm the named yoga teacher, language, dates and number of nights before paying for flights. If you are new to this kind of break, our guide to what to expect from a retreat explains the main formats.
Choose an island or mainland yoga retreat
Decide how much of the day you want to practise yoga. YogaOnCrete’s Iyengar course involves two two-hour classes daily. Ouranos has an open programme in which yoga is one of several choices. Euphoria offers private yoga and mindfulness within a hotel and spa. These are different commitments, even when each is described as a yoga holiday.

Budget, mid-range and luxury describe the relative accommodation and service format here. They are editorial categories, not a fixed price band or a promise that one package is cheaper than another. Single occupancy, tuition and travel can change the total substantially.

Mainland, Evia and Aegina: seven different settings
Evia Silence
Mid-range · Evia · Porto Mpoufalo · Teacher-specific
Evia Silence suits readers who want sea access and a dedicated practice room without organising an onward island flight. At Porto Mpoufalo, the original hotel has 30 m² rooms with air conditioning, private bathrooms and sea-view balconies. Its newer Lighthouse building sits separately on the waterfront, so check which building your retreat uses before choosing a room.
The 80 m² shala has hardwood floors, climate control and yoga props, while the restaurant prepares vegetarian and vegan food using local produce. This is a venue for different teachers and programmes: the host determines the style, intensity, duration and exact meal plan. Do not assume a hotel booking includes daily classes.
The venue gives a roughly two-and-a-half to three-hour journey from Athens airport; establish whether a shared transfer is part of the package. Its usual advertised season runs from April into early November. Ask about steps between your allocated room, shala and swimming docks if mobility matters.

Euphoria Retreat
Luxury · Mystras · Peloponnese · 5 or 7 programme days
Euphoria is the choice for a private yoga programme within a substantial destination spa. At Mystras, its Yoga & Mindfulness offering currently runs over five or seven days and centres on personal yoga sessions, breathing and meditation, with forest movement and bodywork alongside them. Check the number of overnight stays separately: programme days and hotel nights are different measures.
Rooms and suites provide a hotel setting rather than shared retreat-house living; the official booking site describes marble bathrooms and underfloor heating in its suites. The indoor–outdoor pool, hammam and other spa facilities give non-practice time a clear focus. Ask for a combined quotation covering your room, programme, meals and transfers, because the programme price excludes accommodation.
Kalamata is the nearer airport; Athens is another road-transfer option. The property advertises accessible rooms and public areas, including restaurant and spa, but confirm your particular route and bathroom requirements. Guests must be at least 14.

Zen Rocks Mani
Mid-range · West Mani · Peloponnese · Usually 3 or 6 nights
Zen Rocks combines yoga with early meditation on a hillside above the Messinian Gulf. Its usual retreat formats are three or six nights, with the actual blend of Abhaya yoga, flow, restorative work, Pilates and Zen practice depending on the teacher. The sea-facing deck and indoor Zendo give it a stronger practice focus than a hotel that simply adds occasional classes.
Accommodation varies considerably: villa rooms can have private bathrooms, while glamping comes with an outdoor bathroom and shower. Choose that detail explicitly when comparing quotations. Meals are vegetarian and often vegan, but the current welcome letter says individual dietary or medical needs cannot be catered for; establish suitability before booking.
Kalamata airport is roughly 35–40 minutes away according to the venue, with arranged transfers possible. Expect limited connectivity and a hillside approach rather than a beach resort. This is a useful mid-range starting point for shared accommodation, with private-room choices likely to cost more.

Oikia Karapanou
Budget · Aegina · Saronic Gulf · Event-specific
Oikia Karapanou offers a simpler, communal alternative to spa hotels. The historic house on Aegina hosts changing yoga, movement and other residential programmes, with a garden, terraces and an upstairs practice hall. Most bathrooms are shared: the house lists five in total, with only one en-suite.
That makes room allocation more important than an attractive group photograph. Meals can be mainly vegetarian with optional fish, full or half board, or self-catered, according to the group's arrangements. Participants normally share housekeeping, reinforcing the feeling of staying in a working retreat home.
Reach Aegina by boat from Piraeus, then take a short taxi journey from the port. The beach is about five minutes away on foot. Treat this as a budget-oriented venue rather than a promise of a particular package price, and check the teacher's complete fee. Calendar entries have different languages and some closed or women-only groups; choose an event that explicitly welcomes you.

Pelion Homes Retreat Centre
Mid-range · Agios Georgios Nilias · Pelion · Usually 5–7 nights
Pelion Homes is a mountain-and-orchard option, with the retreat space separate from the accommodation. Groups stay in allocated villas near Agios Georgios Nilias and walk roughly five to seven minutes up a gently inclined stone path to the tented shala and communal dining area. The provider explicitly flags that route for guests with mobility concerns.
Bedrooms may be private or twin-shared, and bathrooms may be shared or en-suite, so ask for the exact villa and room rather than relying on a general luxury description. Retreat bookings typically run for five to seven nights unless otherwise agreed, with a guest teacher determining the practice. Plant-based farm-to-table catering usually centres on brunch and dinner; a third meal can be arranged.
This setting suits people who want forest walks, village time and group living. Beach visits require a drive, with the nearest around 20 minutes away. Confirm transfer arrangements and any air-conditioning exceptions when comparing the final package.

Abeliona Retreat
Mid-range · Mountainous Peloponnese · Hosted course-specific
Abeliona is a practical alternative when you would choose mountain walks and an enclosed practice space over beach days. The retreat's 80 m² yurt stands at the upper part of the property, with a pavilion below for outdoor sessions. Guest rooms offer a different level of privacy from a dormitory retreat: junior suites have double or twin beds, marble bathrooms and fireplaces, while larger family suites add kitchen space.
The venue welcomes teachers organising yoga and meditation groups, with custom menus and vegan options available. Book a confirmed hosted retreat if you want tuition, rather than assuming that every room reservation includes classes. Its published events page contains past programmes, so establish the next date, teacher and number of nights directly.
Access is by road into the mountainous Peloponnese; the official directions give routes from Athens and Kalamata. Ask about the climb and steps to the yurt if walking is difficult, and agree the meal plan before paying.

Eumelia Organic Agrotourism Farm
Mid-range · Gouves · Laconia · By arrangement
Eumelia suits travellers who want yoga alongside farm life and food, with the flexibility of a self-contained house. At Gouves in Laconia, the property advertises wellness retreats and yoga experiences within its organic farm, rather than promising the same residential timetable every week. Its houses have separate bedrooms, living space and kitchens; the Grape Vine House also lists air conditioning, ceiling fans and underfloor heating.
A private patio gives you somewhere separate from the communal lounge and farm activities. Vegetarian cooking draws on seasonal produce from the gardens, and cooking classes, olive-oil tastings and walks can broaden the stay. Agree a written yoga programme, teacher, session count and meal plan before booking: an ordinary farmstay is a different purchase from a hosted retreat.
Confirm the minimum stay and airport-transfer arrangements for your chosen booking. Ask about the final journey to the farm, bathroom layout and any access requirements when obtaining your quotation.

Crete and other Greek islands: eight retreat options
Yoga Rocks
Mid-range · Agios Pavlos · Crete · Saturday-to-Saturday week
Choose Yoga Rocks for a teacher-led week with straightforward rooms and beach access, rather than a large spa resort. It now operates above Agios Pavlos bay on Crete’s south coast, close to the sand dunes near Triopetra. Stays run from Saturday to Saturday, with yoga beginning on Sunday; the style and expected experience depend on the visiting teacher.
Compact rooms have en-suite bathrooms and a balcony or terrace. Vegetarian lunches and dinners, plus a help-yourself breakfast and snack kitchen, make the daily routine easy, although the closing Friday taverna meal costs extra. Heraklion and Chania both involve a substantial road transfer, which the team can help arrange at additional cost.
The retreat asks guests to avoid alcohol on the premises. Its 2027 schedule was still awaiting release when checked, so confirm your teacher and dates before booking flights. Ask specifically about steps between your room, the practice area and beach if mobility is a concern.

YogaOnCrete
Mid-range · Chora Sfakion · Crete · Week-long Iyengar course
YogaOnCrete suits travellers who want a clear teaching method and a small house setting. In Chora Sfakion, its Iyengar retreats with Eugenia combine two daily two-hour classes with breath awareness and time between sessions for the south coast. The published programme welcomes beginners as well as experienced students; expect patient alignment work and props, rather than a light optional class added to a holiday.
Rooms range from simple options with communal bathrooms to en-suite accommodation. When the house fills, guests may stay in nearby family-run studios or hotels, so establish exactly where you will sleep. The weekly package specifies seven brunches and five dinners, with lacto-vegetarian food, plus a boat outing to Sweet Water beach.
Airport transfers cost extra. Choose this mid-range option for its teaching and home-like scale, and allow for meals outside the package. If hills or stairs are difficult, ask about the route between the accommodation and classes before reserving.

Vericoco Retreat
Mid-range · Spartia · Kefalonia · Teacher-specific; 7-night example
Vericoco is useful when you want a retreat estate with a pool and easy access to the sea, while retaining the character of a hosted group. Near Spartia on Kefalonia, it provides a shaded wooden practice deck, yoga equipment and gardens overlooking the Ionian Sea and Mount Aenos. The accommodation deserves a careful look before you compare quotes: some villa bedrooms are en suite, while the two-bedroom beach houses share a bathroom.
Studios and other apartments provide further alternatives. The kitchen serves home-cooked food with a Greek and Mediterranean emphasis and can accommodate vegan or gluten-free requests; confirm what your particular teacher’s package includes. Spartia beach is roughly 300 metres away, downhill from the estate.
This is a mid-range choice whose programme and price depend on the organiser. Do not assume a general room reservation includes daily yoga, and obtain current dates, airport-transfer arrangements and your precise building and bathroom allocation in writing.

Aegialis Hotel & Spa
Luxury · Amorgos · Cyclades · Retreat-specific
Aegialis is the luxury choice for combining a teacher-led yoga retreat with extensive hotel facilities. Above Aegiali Bay on Amorgos, the hotel has six yoga shalas, additional rooftop practice spaces and a broad supply of props. Its spa, indoor salt-water pool, sauna, hammam and gym make it a different proposition from a simple beach house.
Sea-view rooms and suites offer different bathroom and upgrade arrangements, so a private pool or jacuzzi should never be assumed from the hotel’s photographs. Meals can include vegetarian and vegan choices, but the board basis belongs to your chosen retreat. The official calendar lists visiting teachers and programmes of different lengths; booking a hotel room alone does not establish a place on one.
Amorgos also requires a ferry connection and a transfer from the correct port. Ask about the full route through this hillside property if steps are an issue, and confirm teaching language, schedule and included spa access.

Ouranos Club
Budget · North-west Corfu · Confirm stay length
Ouranos Club is worth considering for a simpler, sociable holiday with yoga among several optional activities. In north-west Corfu, between Arillas and Agios Stefanos, its open programme changes daily and is planned a week at a time. Yoga sits alongside meditation, dance, Pilates and creative sessions, so this differs from booking a fixed sequence with one teacher.
Accommodation is in straightforward local apartments: category one has its own shower and toilet, while category two has two bedrooms sharing facilities. Vegetarian breakfast and dinner buffets are served at the main house, with a vegan main dish available. Houses can be up to twelve minutes’ walk from the centre.
The club specifically describes some routes as gravel paths with downhill and uphill sections, a significant consideration for limited mobility. Treat the budget label as a comfort category, obtain a complete package quote, and confirm the teaching language: the main published information is in German.

Milelja Retreat Center
Mid-range · Near Molyvos · Lesvos · Hosted course-specific
Milelja is a seasonal retreat centre near Molyvos on Lesvos, suited to a teacher-led week with dedicated practice facilities. Its round Mandala Shala has a wooden floor, heating and air conditioning, plus mats, belts, blocks, blankets and meditation cushions. Rooms and apartments occupy stone houses on a hillside among terraced gardens; apartments have en-suite bathrooms and a kitchen or tea-kitchen, while the rooms have bathrooms and a shared tea-and-coffee area.
The venue opens from April to October and hosts different yoga and other workshops, so the teacher’s dates determine the programme and stay length. Ask for the current season’s calendar rather than assuming an old listed week remains bookable. The team can arrange airport transfers, but inclusion and meal arrangements need confirmation with the organiser.
Check the location carefully: Milelja Retreat Center and nearby Milelia Inselgarten are separate properties. If slopes or steps pose difficulties, request the precise route from your allocated room to the shala.

INEA Yoga Retreats Greece
Mid-range · Agios Georgios South · Corfu · Six-night Signature example
INEA offers a residential yoga programme in a family-run centre near Agios Georgios South on Corfu. Its Signature format combines morning flow and meditation with workshops, quieter Yin practice and elements of non-dual Tantra, including mantra and reflection. The researched July 2027 departure runs for six nights and is taught in English; other retreats have their own focus.
Room choice needs care: a single or twin-shared studio has an en-suite bathroom, while a private bedroom in a shared apartment uses a shared bathroom. Brunch and dinner buffets are vegetarian, with vegan and gluten-free options, and the centre supplies mats and props. The sandy beach is a short walk away, but request the exact access route if steps or uneven ground are difficult.
Corfu airport is the arrival point, with a paid taxi service available. This mid-range option suits travellers wanting an organised practice community; confirm which workshops, excursions and optional treatments are included.

Okreblue Seaside Yoga Retreat Center
Mid-range · Santa Maria · Paros · Six-night hosted example
Okreblue provides a seaside base at Santa Maria on Paros for visiting teachers and their groups. Its practice spaces and Caretta dining area sit close to the coast, while the teaching and stay length depend on the organiser. One researched example is Sapranah’s six-night September 2027 retreat, combining Hatha, flowing movement, Yin, Yoga Nidra and meditation.
That package offers apartments and beach rooms with private bathrooms, with single, twin or triple occupancy choices; establish the exact room rather than assuming every option has a kitchenette or veranda. Two vegetarian or vegan meals daily are included in this example, along with herbal teas, filtered water and fruit. Reach Paros by an appropriate flight or ferry connection, then arrange the final taxi.
Travel and optional treatments are extra. This is a mid-range retreat-centre format, with scope for different teaching styles; ask about the route between your room, shala and beach if access matters.
Check the provider: Programme and venue · More provider information.
What does the complete yoga holiday cost?
Compare the same number of nights and the same room occupancy. A programme fee without accommodation is not comparable with a residential week, and a single room within an apartment may still share a bathroom. Ask for one written total covering tuition, room, meals, taxes and compulsory transfers, then add flights, ferries and any overnight stop.
Meals need counting. YogaOnCrete’s researched weekly package includes seven brunches and five dinners. Yoga Rocks excludes the closing taverna meal. A hotel’s restaurant offering vegetarian options does not establish full board. For allergies or a strict diet, obtain a clear answer from the organiser: Zen Rocks’ current welcome letter explicitly limits individual dietary accommodation.

For solo travel, check whether a shared-room price requires two people booking together or allows the organiser to allocate a roommate. Ask what happens to the fee if no roommate joins. Read cancellation and minimum-participant terms before buying separate transport, and distinguish an optional massage or boat trip from an essential part of your planned week.
Match the yoga practice to your experience
Ask for a sample day with the duration of each yoga class, workshop and meditation session. A course described as suitable for all levels may still involve several hours of concentrated practice. Beginners should ask how the yoga instructor offers modifications and whether participation is flexible; experienced students should check prerequisites and the balance between instruction and independent practice.
Look for the actual method rather than collecting style names. Iyengar teaching places particular emphasis on alignment and props. A vinyasa session and a quieter yin yoga or restorative session make different demands. A programme combining yoga and meditation also needs clear timings: silence at breakfast, a short seated practice and a formal intensive course are separate experiences. Read the teacher’s current description for your chosen departure.
Check the social format too. A hosted house week, a German-language open programme and a large hotel can feel quite different. Ask which meals and activities are shared, whether free afternoons stay free and where you can spend quiet time. If your priority is a shorter journey, compare the options in our UK yoga retreat guide.
Season, ferries and practical travel planning
Choose the season around your practice
Choose dates around the way you want to practise, rather than treating Greece as one climate. Visit Greece describes hot, dry summers, cooler mountain areas and seasonal winds; the coast and highlands can feel quite different at the same time. For a retreat with long walks or outdoor classes, ask when sessions run, how much shade the shala has and whether there is an indoor alternative. Spring or autumn is worth considering if you prefer to avoid peak-summer heat, but check the particular venue’s operating dates and local forecast. A mountain retreat with heating and an enclosed practice room is a different proposition from a seasonal island deck.
Current guidance: Official guidance.
Allow time for the final transfer
Map the whole journey before buying flights: arrival airport, any ferry port, the island or mainland stop and the final drive. The national tourism office notes that international flight frequencies increase in peak summer. Check the operator’s actual timetable for your retreat date. For island stays, leave breathing space between a ferry and a separate flight; an overnight buffer is sensible when missing either would be costly. Blue Star’s conditions allow weather-related changes and cancellations, and its current notices show why a published sailing is not a guarantee. Confirm the correct port and boarding deadline, and ask the retreat whether its transfer waits for delayed arrivals. If you need assistance, arrange it with the carrier in advance.
Current guidance: Official guidance · Carrier conditions · Current service notices.
Check documents and outdoor conditions
Before paying a non-refundable balance, read the FCDO’s current Greece entry requirements for your passport and circumstances, and check travel insurance covers the activities you plan. A retreat booking does not settle passport validity or any permission needed for a longer stay. Recheck official advice near departure. For walking between classes, follow local weather and emergency guidance: the FCDO advises avoiding peak sun, carrying water and using footwear suitable for uneven paths. Ask the venue about steps, steep tracks and the route to meals as well as the yoga room; accessible accommodation alone does not describe the whole retreat.
Current guidance: Official guidance · Safety and security.
Pack to the venue’s equipment list
Ask about mats and props before buying or carrying them. An equipped shala can make a large kit unnecessary, while a travel mat offers little cushioning by itself. Bring suitable shoes for the actual paths, a refillable bottle, sun protection and a light layer for quiet evening sessions. Check your airline’s baggage allowance and any ferry luggage instructions.

Manduka eKO SuperLite travel mat
A foldable, 1.5 mm natural-rubber travel mat. Its thin format saves packing space but gives limited cushioning; ask whether the venue provides a thicker base mat. Check suitability if you avoid natural rubber.

Nalgene Sustain wide-mouth bottle
A reusable 32 US fl oz bottle, approximately 946 ml. The wide opening is useful for filling and cleaning. Ask the venue where drinking-water refills are available and carry it empty through airport security where required.
View on Amazon (Ad)Before you reserve your stay
Shortlist by teaching, room and complete journey. Ask the organiser to confirm the exact accommodation, private or shared bathroom, meal count, language, practice schedule and transfer meeting point in writing. Where next season’s dates are pending, wait for a confirmed programme before making non-refundable travel arrangements.
Photographs here show Aegialis and Zen Rocks from their existing retreat listings. They are clearly labelled archive images; current rooms and facilities should be checked against the category you book. A beautiful practice space is useful evidence of setting, while the written programme tells you what your stay actually includes.
