The most useful cork yoga block is one that fits your practice, your hands and your bag. Before looking at logos, check whether the price buys one brick or two, how wide each one is, and whether you want a thick brick or a flatter support.
Compare Amazon Basics and ALPIDEX for a matched pair, or Overmont if you also need a strap. For a single brick, look at the compact Yogamatters option alongside the broader Gaiam.
How we chose these cork blocks
We shortlisted identifiable cork products listed on Amazon.co.uk, with average scores of at least 4.6 out of 5 and more than 100 ratings in our 24 October 2026 research. We read available UK and international customer feedback and checked pack quantities, dimensions and manufacturer descriptions, and separated cork products from similarly named foam options.
Ratings are a starting point, rather than proof of how a block will feel for you. We have not tested these products ourselves. Amazon can combine feedback across variants and countries; the totals below should not be read as UK-only customer reviews.
A two-pack and a single brick are different purchases. Compare like with like.
A 12cm-wide brick feels different in the hand from a broader 15cm block.
Firmness, storage and carrying weight matter more than decorative branding.

A size and set for your practice
Quantity is shown on every card. Product photographs and buttons link to Amazon (Ad). Check the selected option if a listing offers different materials, sizes or bundles.

Product photograph: Amazon Basics via Amazon.co.uk.
Amazon Basics Cork Yoga Blocks
- 2 blocks
- 22.9 × 15.2 × 7.6cm per block
- Cork
A straightforward matched pair with a broad 15.2cm face and 7.6cm thickness. Two identical blocks give you the same height under both hands.
The title rounds the dimensions to 23 × 15 × 8cm. Compare the measurements with blocks you enjoy using in class, especially if a narrower brick feels easier to grip.
Customer feedback: UK reviewers praise the firm construction and textured grip. One verified buyer preferred the support to foam while pointing out the additional weight.
Before you choose: This is a set of two. Compare the total set cost with two individually sold bricks, and allow room for both blocks in your bag.

Product photograph: ALPIDEX via Amazon.co.uk.
ALPIDEX Cork Yoga Blocks
- 2 blocks
- 23 × 14 × 7.5cm per block
- Cork
This pair sits between the narrower 12cm bricks and the 15cm-wide options in our shortlist. ALPIDEX specifies approximately 735g per block, so two together add about 1.47kg before you pack a mat or clothes.
The weight makes this pair worth considering for home practice rather than a tightly packed flight bag. ALPIDEX identifies Portuguese oak bark as the cork source; that is a material claim, not a claim about the place of manufacture.
Customer feedback: UK verified buyers describe a solid feel and comfortable grip. One found the blocks broader when laid flat than expected, making a measurement check worthwhile.
Before you choose: Choose the linked two-piece, 7.5cm-thick version. ALPIDEX also has thinner blocks, and one manufacturer page mixes a 4.5cm title with 7.5cm specifications.

Product photograph: Overmont.
Overmont Cork Blocks & Strap
- 2 blocks + strap
- 9 × 6 × 3in per block
- Cork
Overmont bundles two cork blocks with an 8ft yoga strap. If you are gathering your first set of props, it is a practical way to get a matching pair and a strap in one order.
Each block measures 9 × 6 × 3 inches, approximately 22.9 × 15.2 × 7.6cm. Compare the broad face with the Amazon Basics pair, and choose the bundle if your classes use a strap.
Customer feedback: UK buyers praise the sturdy blocks and useful strap. A four-star reviewer liked using them at home but found them a little heavy.
Before you choose: Check that the selected bundle contains two blocks and one 8ft strap. The maker’s weight figure does not clearly distinguish one block from the full set, so we have omitted it.

Product photograph: Yogamatters.
Yogamatters Cork Yoga Brick
- 1 brick
- Approx. 23 × 12 × 7.5cm per block
- Cork
A narrower brick for anyone who prefers a compact prop to a broader block. Amazon lists 23 × 12 × 7.5cm; the maker gives a slightly shorter length of 22.7cm.
Its material FAQ identifies agglomerated cork with a polyurethane binder. That clear specification is useful if construction matters to you. Weight and origin differ between maker and retailer descriptions, so we have omitted both.
Customer feedback: UK buyers praise the sturdy construction and pleasant surface. One owner reports years of use; another found the bricks heavier than expected. These are individual experiences.
Before you choose: The listing is for one brick, so order two if you need a matched pair. Yogamatters also sells a larger, flatter cork block; it is a different product.

Product photograph: Gaiam.
Gaiam Cork Yoga Brick
- 1 brick
- 9 × 5.5 × 3in per block
- Cork
Gaiam’s cork brick gives you a wider single-block alternative to the compact 12cm options. The maker lists 9 × 5.5 × 3 inches, approximately 22.9 × 14 × 7.6cm.
Consider it if you want a broader footprint but only need one prop. The maker describes recycled cork; this does not establish that the complete product is binder-free or plastic-free.
Customer feedback: The international reviews retrieved praise the firm feel and grip. No UK review sample was returned for this listing, so this feedback is not UK-specific.
Before you choose: Keep the Cork version selected: some secondary listing text mentions foam, while the selected material, colour, model 05-52292 and description identify the cork brick. The listing specifies wiping with a dry cloth.
Choose with confidence
One block, two blocks, or a flatter support?
Do you need one or two?
Two matching blocks are useful when your teacher asks you to place one beneath each hand. The same dimensions give you equal heights on both sides, and a ready-made pair avoids an accidental mismatch.
One brick can still be a useful purchase for a specific exercise or to replace a prop you already own. If you are buying your first home set and regularly use two in class, compare the cost of a pair with two singles rather than choosing the lowest headline price.
Know your block from your brick
Retailers use the words interchangeably, so let the measurements decide. The shortlist above concentrates on thicker blocks, roughly 7.5–8cm deep. Brands also sell much flatter cork supports, often around 30.5 × 20.5 × 5cm, intended to offer a broader, lower surface.
Neither shape is an upgrade on the other. Choose the prop your practice calls for, and avoid ordering a flat block because its photograph resembles a thicker brick. If you like the props at your studio, take their measurements as a reference.
Think about the face you will use
A rectangular brick provides three possible heights when turned onto different faces. Its lowest position has the broadest base; standing it upright increases the height and narrows that base. Try unfamiliar placements with your teacher before relying on them.
Widths vary considerably here. A narrower 12cm brick is easier for some people to hold, while a broader face gives a different area to rest a hand on. Hand size and the intended position matter more than a “standard” label.
Be precise about materials
Cork is firm and gives little under pressure compared with many foam blocks. That can be appealing under the hands, but may feel less forgiving where a prop presses against the body. Softer foam remains a reasonable preference for some uses.
Do not assume that every cork block is made without a binder. Yogamatters explicitly discloses a polyurethane binder in its agglomerated cork brick. If a particular material matters to you, look for a clear specification for the exact model.
Ask whether the retreat supplies props before filling your luggage with a pair. Cork can add appreciable weight: the ALPIDEX pair alone is about 1.47kg. Our UK yoga retreat guide can help you plan the wider trip.
Keep care simple
Follow the instructions supplied with your blocks. Yogamatters specifies wiping with a damp cloth; ALPIDEX advises a small amount of water and warns against excess water and chemical cleaners. Let the surface dry before putting the blocks away.
Do not soak or machine wash cork props unless the exact manufacturer instructions explicitly allow it. A cork brick needs a different care routine from a removable bolster cover or a fabric yoga blanket.

Cork yoga block questions
Are cork yoga blocks better than foam?
They offer a different feel. Cork is generally firm and comparatively substantial to carry; many foam blocks are lighter and softer. Choose according to the support your practice uses, the feel you prefer and how often you will transport them.
Can a beginner use cork blocks?
Yes. A block can bring a support surface closer to you, but there is no need to choose the highest position or buy the firmest material. Use the height and placement your teacher recommends, and change the setup if it feels uncomfortable.
Which set should I compare first?
Start with Amazon Basics for a broad matched pair, ALPIDEX if its dimensions and carrying weight suit you, and Overmont if you also want a strap. If you need only one, compare the 12cm-wide Yogamatters brick with the broader Gaiam option.
Can I use a cork block as a meditation cushion?
A firm brick is quite different from a padded seat. If you want a comfortable base for longer seated meditation, look at our meditation cushion guide. For supported floor practice, our yoga bolster guide compares larger props.
