Since 2014, New Life Rising has been in service to the ever-growing community of truth seekers. We have carefully created a retreat program that encompasses a balance of complimentary healing modalities, time for reflection, and community support. We have led thousands of people through the Ayahuasca journey and been witness to profound transformations. Our comprehensive Ayahuasca retreat experience includes traditional ceremonies, group sharing circles, Hatha yoga sessions, therapeutic massage, nutritious meals, beach trips, airport transfers and more. Our intention is to create a safe and supported environment that nurtures honest self-reflection, personal healing, and growth. We believe that the combination of Ayahuasca along with these additional therapies can facilitate deeply transformative experiences.

Our founders, Matt and Jeanae, have been working with plant medicine for over a decade. Our values are rooted in the Peruvian Mestizo Ayahuasca traditions and as students of the medicine, we have completed many Master-plant dietas in the Amazon jungle. Through these experiences, we have learned how to create and maintain a safe energetic container while singing traditional medicine songs called Icaros. Together, Matt and Jeanae help you access and integrate the profound spiritual experiences and healing that Ayahuasca offers.

From the moment you arrive, we do all we can to make the New Life Ayahuasca retreat Costa Rica feel warm and welcoming. We dedicate ourselves to helping our guests find a deeper sense of purpose and meaning in their lives. Ayahuasca can be a powerful tool for transformation, and it is our honor to share this medicine with others. By the end of the retreat, we are humbled to see the transformation of 14 strangers into a beautiful family built on unconditional love and respect.
Limited to just 14 participants, our retreat provides an intimate setting where genuine connections flourish and enduring bonds are created. After more than a decade of working with ayahuasca, we have fine-tuned our ayahuasca retreat Costa Rica program to offer a variety of complementary healing modalities. From our ayahuasca ceremonies guided by ayahuasqueros trained in the Peruvian Mestizo traditions to Hatha yoga sessions, massage therapy, group sharing circles, nature therapy, nutritional meals, and airport transfers, we have considered every element to best support you on your journey.

Matt and Jeanae are fortunate to have learned through a very powerful lineage of healers. In 2014, after deciding they wanted to dedicate themselves to working with Ayahuasca, they became students of world-renowned shaman Don Ron Wheelock, the 'Gringo Shaman' of Peru. Ron has been living in Iquitos, Peru for nearly 30 years and has amassed a wealth of knowledge on Ayahuasca, spirits, brew making, and Mestizo traditions. He is recognized as being one of the original pioneers of bridging the gap of Ayahuasca accessibility to the West.

Don Ron was the student ofDon Agustin Rivas Vasquez and Don Jose Coral Mori, the teacher of Pablo Amaringo and Eduardo Luna, the authors of “Ayahuasca Visions”. After studying with both Ayahuasqueros, he began working on his own in 2000.

After completing many master plant dietas under the guidance of Don Ron, Jeanae and Matt were able to connect more deeply to their spiritual lineage in 2022 by visiting the village of Tamshiyaco and spending time at the camp of Don Agustin and Dona Marlena. Don Agustin was 98 years old at the time of the visit and still leading ceremonies. He and Ron are both very well-respected members of their communities and overall incredible men.

Matt and Jeanae feel privileged to have been passed down Icaros and spiritual wisdom through a long lineage of powerful Peruvian healers.

Overall Experience

This review for New Life Ayahuasca is long overdue.
I’ve been attending retreats at NLA since 2018:
October 2018,
March 2021,
November 2022
and November 2023.

Accommodations:
From my Aya experiences, NLA has the BEST accommodations of any retreat I’ve attended either in Costa Rica or Peru. The property has a lot to offer from poolside chairs, nature hikes, yoga, beach trips and communal areas for guests to congregate. The rooms are very modern and conducive to rest and healing – before and after the Aya ceremonies.

Food:
The food, again, is the BEST I’ve had at any other Aya retreat. The food is vegan, but delicious and satiating!

Ceremonies:
The Aya ceremonies are comparable to those that I’ve experienced in Peru. Matt and Jeanae have a powerful presence while singing icaros (medicinal songs for healing) and instrumentation performed during ceremony.

Anecdotal Experience:
My visits to NLA have helped me tremendously over the years. I’ve experienced healing in many facets of my life ranging from grief, depression, alcoholism and trust. My attitude towards myself and others is a universe apart from where it was – even from a year ago!

Summary:
I highly recommend NLA to anyone looking for an authentic Aya experience and the healing that accompanies it over the weeks and months after returning home. Matt and Jeanae are doing wonderful work and I am grateful for their help along my journey of healing.
