Description of the Retreat

This exclusive holistic retreat gives you an intensive experience where you will get to unwind and give full attention to yourself in an exquisite, comfortable retreat venue so that your body, mind and soul may nourished, inspired, revived and restored back to inner balance.

Hosted at the divine sanctuary that is La Rosa dei 4 Venti, with asana teaching by Monica Marini of Yoga Morphic and bodywork with Katrina Johnston. Expect 6 days of vinyasa flow yoga immersion including meditation and pranayama with twice daily teaching – influenced by the wisdom of Rod Stryker – you will focus on strength, alignment, flexibility, balance, subtle body, transition postures, becoming fully aware and at ease in the body and feeling a sense of liberation as the result.

They’ll be a half day trip mid-week to the nearby azure Adriatic and a typical Puglian town. All meals are farm-to-table vegetarian, chef-cooked with home-grown, local organic produce – much grown in the venue’s gardens and all cooked with love.

The venue is set in 15-hectares situated on a small hillock in the heart of the Itria Valley in the heel of Italy’s boot (the nearest international airport is Brindisi). Staying true to the old Apulian style, many of the authentic features are still in place and they provide an idyllic backdrop to the white-washed buildings which make up the accommodation. There is both an indoor yoga shala and an outdoor yoga platform. Yoga classes take place twice daily and are suitable for all levels and abilities.

Teacher/Teachings

Monica Marini has been practicing, studying and developing her understanding & application of yoga for more than 20 years. She has developed a unique and creative style of practice for a diverse range of students and levels. Known as YogaMorphic, Monica offers focused, caring guidance towards a safe, yet dynamic practice.
Her focus is the therapeutic application of asana (physical postures) and pranayama (breath regulation) for a more integrated experience of the body-mind. Principles of Vinyasa Krama (effective and safe sequencing) inform the sequencing of Vinyasa and Yoga Flow classes, for an energising practice.
Traditional postures of Hatha Yoga are infused with the clarity and precision of the Iyengar method to offer students the opportunity to experience for themselves how Yoga can restore physical and mental wellbeing. Monica is an advanced teacher and her classes are suitable for all levels. She is founder of the Whitstable Yoga Festival UK and teaches weekly classes in Kent, UK. Her website is www.yogamorphic.com for more info.

Facilities

La Rosa dei 4 Venti is not a hotel; it’s a unique, comfortable, family-run specialist destination that specializes in yoga holidays. This 15-hectare property is situated on a small hillock in the heart of the Itria Valley in the heel of Italys boot (nearest international airport is Brindisi).

The masseria comfortably accommodates 10 students and close by there are another five rooms in the trulli houses. These small, white conical buildings are one of the most magical aspects of the Puglian landscape. They are all individually furnished in the simple yet beautiful local countryhouse style. The rooms are either part of the masseria or in the adjacent small houses called ”trulli”. The rooms are normally for two persons, with three rooms for three persons. Single occupancy is not possible. Each room is unique, full of character and comes with an en suite with shower, toilet and basin.

Freedom and simplicity are at the heart of this yoga retreat. The landscape is scenic and rural and is dotted with beautiful olive trees and vineyards, divided by pretty dry-stone walls. Between the lovely gardens, swimming pool, wild forest and fields, and tiny church, there is plenty of space to explore, walk and be free.

Food

The diet at the venue La Rosa dei 4 Venti is extremely important, as much so as the yoga practice. Our cuisine follows the ph alkaline diet philosophy whose goal is to make a healthy vegetarian diet, mainly raw, organic, with low gluten, no dairies and wheat free. We serve our fresh, organic and seasonal products from our garden; we produce our own goat cheese and milk and we make our bread, pastries and pastas with spelled flour or no gluten flour like buckwheat. Our dishes are from the Italian tradition but revisited by us following this diet by introducing some raw dishes at lunch and superfoods in our recipies. You will not miss the Italian cuisine, you will simply experience it in a more healthy way.

Vegetarian, farm-to-table locally produced food - the Puglian food is divine - chef-cooked and breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. There can be local fresh fish if people would like it one evening for dinner, and the chef can cater to all reasonable special dietary requirements with due notice. The retreat is predominantly vegetarian though.

Practical Information

Nearest airport is Brindisi - flights from London and other international locations - also Bari Airport is relatively close. The venue can arrange for travel from either airport to the venue - please email the venue to arrange.
