Description of the Retreat

When your earnest desire for change meets the powerful experience of the Tao Meditation Weekend, you will undergo a life changing, transformational experience that you will never forget.

You will come away with new perspectives, new inspirations, and a renewed passion for life.

Why are we so sure about this? Because we’ve seen it happen for so many people during the Tao Meditation Retreats – and we know it can happen for you.

Just 16 miles southwest of Uptown Sedona, in the midst of the Coconino National Forest, lies Sedona Mago Retreat. This blooming desert land, surrounded by red rocks, Native American ruins, and mountains, has been a place of healing and transformation for over 40 years. Named for Mago, which means ancient mother in Asian cultures, this beautiful solitary land has a magical quality to unfold our innermost stories.
Meditation Works

Meditation works. The International Journal of Neuroscience (1982) found that those practicing meditation for more than five years were physiologically 12 years younger than their chronological age, measured by reduction of blood pressure, better near-point vision, and auditory discrimination. Short-term meditators were physiologically five years younger than their chronological age.

It’s a proven method to leave a lasting and positive impact on your mind, body, and spirit. If you have never tried it before, let us assure you that it’s not just for yogis. Meditation is for everyone! Wherever you are on the contemplative continuum, the energetic vibration of Sedona will accelerate and deepen your practice.

Group Sessions and Individual Reflection Are Balanced

Our Tao Meditation Retreat offers opportunities to meditate and reflect individually as well as with a group. Explore your inner landscape deeply then join with others and receive new perspectives, experience the support of community, and just have some fun.

Teacher/Teachings

ayong Kim has been the COO of Sedona Mago Retreat since 2011. Earlier in his life, Sayong developed sciatic neuralgia and suffered from back pain for over ten years. While various Western and Eastern healing modalities helped, they could not cure his pain. He started practicing Sun Tao, and his back healed in less than three months. This changed the course of his life. He quit the Ph.D. program and set out to become an instructor of the Tao Healing Practice. While practicing Sun Tao in Korea, he heard about Sedona and came to Sedona Mago Retreat for the first time in 1996. Ilchi Lee, Sun Tao and Tao Fellowship Founder, was his guide at the time and Sayong was very impressed with his teachings. Sayong understood that the activities of this non-profit organization could help people to live happier and healthier lives.

Sayong’s goal is to share Tao principles and practices and to develop Sedona Mago Retreat into the top retreat center in the country.

Testimonials

Testimonials:

“Choice, concentration, action = creation. This was the main message that I will take with me and share from the Tao Meditation Weekend. A Profound but simple action plan that I can use every day. The best part of Tao Meditation Weekend for me was meeting my group and forging new relationships, and finding that people of all walks of life are on the same journey.” ~Rita, Long Beach, CA

TAO MEDITATION… I almost decided not to take because I was so emotionally, mentally and physically drained from the last class….so I thought. That would have been a BIG mistake… after a few hours of some nature meditation I was ready for the next class. Sayong Kim is an amazing man and instructor. This course which seemed light and emotionally easy sort of snuck up on you and before you knew it, you where in the middle of some heavy duty healing. It was unbelievable to see how the magical vortex’s, hiking and the right instructor could make such a big impact on your life…Instantly!

“It was a wonderful experience for me to remind myself not to get lost in day to day life, stop and ponder where I am going and headed to. Someone once told me that insanity means to keep doing the same things and expecting different outcomes. So if I want to live a meaningful life, I need to pause from time to time and see where I am headed to. This retreat provided a great time for me to do that. Thank you! ~Maryam, CA

Our Retreat Center offers 163 acres of beautifully landscaped land honoring Mother Earth’s treasures. Designed to work with the healing energy of Sedona, you can relax and rejuvenate body, mind, and spirit.
If you’re looking for a place to unwind and re-connect with what’s important, what better environment than one of the most beautiful deserts on the planet?
Sedona Mago Retreat is located on a stunning, 163-acre stretch of land in the high Arizonan desert, 4,500-feet above sea level.

From the hot days of summer to the cooling breezes of spring and autumn, to the snowcapped red rocks in the winter, it’s ideal for exploring nature, gazing at the stars, and re-connecting with everything that’s important in your life.

120 casitas mean the retreat is large enough for small groups to visit year round; but it is also small enough for the privacy and meditation you need for holistic healing.

Everything here is geared towards healing the body, calming the mind, and awakening the spirit.
