Description of the Retreat

Are you looking for an expansive traveling experience that also moves you towards equanimity and deeper self-knowledge?

Bring your whole being for an individually designed practice of asana, meditation, pranayama, and chanting – supported by Oman’s culture and landscape.

Oman is full of enduring natural wonder and uncharted territory.

If you embody an adventurous spirit, the desire to go deeper into the appreciation of self through yogic practices, and are seeking spiritual inspiration, then you’ve found your journey.

Your days will be spent in gratitude of the unspoiled landscapes.

We will swim at Wadi Bani Khalid and Bimmah Sinkhole. We will visit a Bedouin family home. We will go on a trip to a museum and a market in Muscat.

We will serve to inspire and deepen your knowledge of this unique and wildly diverse country.

Morning and evening yoga sessions and nightly ceremonies will strengthen and transform your relationship with yourself and how you view the world around you.

Teacher/Teachings

Hannah is a 500 hour registered yoga teacher.

She was first introduced to different types of yogic and meditative practices as a teenager, which began to shape her understanding of the symbiotic nature between body and mind.

In 2010, Hannah received a BFA in Sound Design which continues to inspire her use of sound as a healing modality through a yogic application.

In 2016, while living in South Korea, Hannah completed her first yoga teacher training and began offering yoga to kindergarten students in Seoul.

Later she traveled to Bali to continue her studies of Hatha Yoga.

Inspired to share her teachings with others, she moved to Thailand where she taught Hatha Yoga on the beaches of Koh Yao Noi for two years.

She completed her 300 hr YTT and Pre/Post-Natal Training with the Kashmir Shaivism School of Yoga in India through lineage based teachers.

In 2019, Hannah organized and led women's health workshops in Goa, India.

Hannah is currently a student of Krishnamacharya based Classical Yoga in Chennai, India, where she is working towards her Post Graduate Diploma for Yoga Therapy.

Hannah is a dedicated teacher and continuing student of yoga and believes that through the art of awareness, we develop the skills to navigate our lives with profound harmony and grace.

Erica Zentner is an experienced practitioner and student of yoga.

She fell in love with yoga 17 years ago.

Erica tries to nurture her students so they can develop an intuitive engagement to the asana, pranayama, and meditation techniques.

She is always veering towards a teaching style that can combine the ancient inherent wisdom of classical yoga - with deep honor and respect for the individuals on the mat in front of her.

She has received training in Krishnamacharya classical Lineage yoga under Yoga Vahini in Chennai.

Here she continues to be a student in the Post Graduate Diploma for Yoga Therapy.

She is also training with Simon Borg-Olivier, Francoise Freedman (founder of Birthlight institute of pre and postnatal yoga), and Angel & Gopala Yaffa (founder of Rainbow Yoga).

Erica continues to be professionally interested in discovering ways to teach the philosophy of yoga in a way that honors students' individual religious and spiritual beliefs.

She also maintains an interest in the use of sound as a healing modality.

Food

Traditional Omani food will be prepared for all meals at the desert camp.

Omani cuisine includes an assortment of flatbread, rice, beans, and vegetables. The isolated location provides the chance to eat like a local.

These hearty meals are based on local resources and are prepared fresh. Meat is available for those who include it in their diet. A small variety of Western food will also be available.

Dates, Omani kahwa (coffee), tea, and water will be available throughout the day at the desert camp.

During outings and while in Muscat, a more eclectic mix of cuisine will be obtainable.

Practical Information

How to get there (flights, airport transfers, buses, trains)
The nearest and most convenient airport to fly into is Muscat International Airport (MCT), Oman, which is a three-hour drive from the desert camp.

All guests can expect a free airport pick-up from the airport to the desert camp.

Seasonal information
Oman has two seasons; summer and winter.

The summers in Oman are extremely hot and dry. The temperatures can normally reach up to 50 degrees. The summer season begins mid April and lasts until late September.

Winter temperatures in Oman are pleasant. Precipitations are quite low during this time. Temperatures are normally at a level of 24 degrees during the day, but the nights get pretty chilly. This is the best time to go to the desert.
