Description of the Retreat

Relax, unwind and reconnect with yourself in nature

Join Sophie and Freddie for a week of inspirational and transformative yoga, meditation and workshops in the beautiful Cambodian countryside between 9 and 16 November 2019.

Our tailor-made schedule of daily meditation, yoga and workshops is designed to help you rebalance your mind and body in four ways:

Reset – nourish yourself in nature
Reconnect – learn to listen to your intuitive wisdom
Expand – stretch your body and mind’s potential with movement and fresh perspective
Explore – allow yourself to be curious to the world around you

Each day, we’ll explore a different theme, such as how to find balance in your everyday life and how to live fearlessly. We’ll consider each topic during a daily workshop and throughout our yoga classes that day. By the end of the week, you’ll have a basic toolkit to help you make lasting positive changes in your life.

We’ll be staying in a traditional Khmer farmhouse, nestled between the foothills of the Phnom Vor mountains and the south coast. Relax by the pool, take a stroll through the pepper vines and explore the beautiful coastline. As well as our daily schedule of meditation, yoga and workshops, we’ve arranged a Khmer cooking class, sunset paddleboard tour through the mangroves and a trip to Kep and the local village.

Teacher/Teachings

Each day will begin with a guided meditation. You’ll have two 1.5 hour yoga classes each day where we’ll explore a range of different yoga styles, including vinyasa, slow flow, hatha, yin and nidra. Rather than following a rigid format of one or two styles of yoga, we prefer to keep our classes creative and playful, and adapt them according to your needs and energy levels. However, as a general rule, our morning session will consist of a dynamic flowing asana practice and our sunset session will be more mellow and nurturing, drawing on a combination of yin yoga, restorative practices and yoga nidra.

We're so excited to be teaming up with Freddie Valente-Perfeito for this Sacred Root Retreat. Freddie is a Portuguese Yoga teacher who speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Freddie loves to teach a range of different types of yoga, including Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Hatha and Yin. She is known for her creative and engaging teaching style, and intuitive understanding of the body. Her classes are strong and powerful with a focus on alignment and stability, as she believes that this is the best way for us to find balance in our everyday lives. She believes that we create so many imbalances in our body in the way that we walk, stand, sit and sleep, which when combined with mental and emotional tension, throw us out of synch. Yoga is a wonderful tool for bringing us back into balance. She loves to include pranayama and meditation in her classes, which she believes helps to quieten the mind and soften the body.

Freddie has been practising yoga since 2014 and she received her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certification in India in 2015 in a mixture of different types of yoga, including Hatha, Vinyasa, Sivananda, Ashtanga and Yin, followed by a further 50 hour Training course in Yin. She recently completed a further 300 hours Yoga Teacher Training course in India, which gave her a greater understanding of alignment, anatomy, yoga therapy and meditation.
